Back to Welcome Page International Women's Day   Jeanne Delp, International Women's Day Sponsor.       We have an opportunity to celebrate International Women's Day right here in our own neighborhood!       On March 4, 2010, CARE, in partnership with AAUW, will present a one-night showing of Half the Sky LIVE in movie theaters nationwide.   Inspired by the best-selling book, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, this presentation will feature musical performances, celebrity commentary, and the world premiere of Woineshet, a powerful short film directed by Academy Award Winner Marisa Tomei.       Local theaters involved in this telecast include:  Century 25 Union Landing, (Union City), Century Theatres at Hayward, (B Street), and Century 20 Great Mall (Milpitas).  In addition, we have been invited to join the Livermore AAUW Branch at Regal Hacienda Crossings Stadium 21 (Dublin).       Recruit your friends, gather at a restaurant beforehand, and attend the 7:30 p.m. showing.   Stand in solidarity with women and girls all over the world in combating violence against women and the girl child.       TICKETS go on sale Feb. 5, 2010 ($12.50).   Visit the Half The Sky LIVE website for more information, tickets, and the movie trailer.       Also, visit the National AAUW's home page for information about AAUW's involvement.
