It was an elegant affair to be sure.

Guests, many sporting colorful spring hats, munched on vegetables, cheese, crackers and chocolate-covered strawberries and sipped Mimosas and cider while AAUW models paraded the fashions of Draper’s and Damon’s at the AAUW Fremont Branch Fashion Show that took place on Saturday, April 17 at Merrill Gardens.

The bright and sunny indoor pool area was the perfect setting for the event.   Models snaked through the tables, twirling and whirling as they showed off the Sunnyvale clothing store’s wonderful line of spring fashions.

;Mary Lynn Pelican and her identical twin sister Carol Goedde brought smiles to everyone’s faces and applause as they swished through the tables sporting matching outfits.

There were ten AAUW Fremont Branch models in all:  Kathy Garfinkle, Mary Lynn Pelican, Carol Goedde, Pat Fewel (Randy's mother), Shirley Gilbert, Bjorg Swint, Becky Denevan, RoseMarie Everett, Elaine Wong Eakin and Beth Booth.

Store Manager Stephania Blaga was the absolute professional and major domo of the event.   She chose the outfits worn by the models, set up the model corner and introduced each outfit as models showed off the clothes to best effect.

Arnold Gilbert, husband of member Shirley Gilbert, made the Mimosa and offered ciders to the guests.

Presidential Team Member Kathy Garfinkle, who was in charge of the event, sends along her thanks to all involved.  “I’d especially love to thank Merrill Gardens and the employees who were so cooperative and eager to make this event a great success.  I would also like to thank the models and everyone who worked so hard to put this show together.  I know everyone who came had a great time,” said Kathy.

Here are a few pictures of the AAUW models decked out in the latest fashions!  Please check out the Fremont Bulletin’s Fashion Show Article and take a look at its two pictures.
