A Thousand Thanks for Raising Millions of Pennies. |

Dear Patterson Parents, Teachers and Students:The Fremont Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is proud to announce that we have collected over $35,000 in pennies donated by children in the Tri-City schools during our Pennies For Peace fundraiser. Patterson School contributed $753.71 in just a few short weeks! This money will be presented to Greg Mortenson, the author of Three Cups of Tea and founder of the Central Asia Institute. The mission of the CAI is to promote and support community-based education and literacy programs, especially for girls, in remote mountain regions of Central Asia. Guided by Greg Mortenson’s passionate leadership, the Central Asia Institute has built over 78 schools in the remote mountain regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan for children that are hungry for education. Congratulations on your generous and very successful contribution to “promote peace one school at a time.” You have truly made a difference in the lives of these children that might otherwise never receive an education. Greg Mortenson will be here in Fremont on Tuesday, March 3. Tickets are available through this website.
